The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for all idol groups!
The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of various idol groups, using big data collected from December 23, 2022 to January 23, 2023.
NewJeans topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 9,400,011. High-ranking phrases in the group’s keyword analysis included “OMG,” “Minji,” and “Ditto,” while their highest-ranking related terms included “record,” “surpass,” and “apologize.” NewJeans’ positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 86.05 percent positive reactions.
BTS took second place in the rankings with a brand reputation index of 8,106,573, while BLACKPINK came in third place with an index of 4,865,510.
IVE claimed fourth place with a brand reputation index of 3,878,364, and SEVENTEEN rounded out the top five for January with a total score of 3,266,092.
Both BIGBANG’s Taeyang and BTS’s Jimin are achieving some exciting career firsts as soloists with their new collab single!
For the week of January 20 to 26, Taeyang’s new single “VIBE” featuring Jimin entered several of the United Kingdom’s Official Charts (typically regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s U.S. charts).
“VIBE” debuted on the Official Singles Chart at No. 96, making it both Taeyang’s and Jimin’s first-ever entry as soloists on the chart.
The song also debuted at No. 4 on both the Official Singles Sales Chart and the Official Singles Downloads Chart, making it Taeyang’s first entry as a soloist on both charts and Jimin’s second (following his “Our Blues” OST track “With You“).
Additionally, “VIBE” debuted at No. 48 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA)’s Singles Chart this week, making it both Taeyang’s and Jimin’s first solo entry on the chart.

On January 21, the popular MBC reality show aired a preview of its upcoming episode, which will feature Taeyang as a guest.
The newly released preview begins with Taeyang introducing himself to viewers and mentioning that it’s been six years since his last solo comeback. The singer then thrills the panelists by recreating the viral meme from his concert where he sings, “Everyone, I missed you so much.”
The clip goes on to take viewers behind the scenes of Taeyang’s comeback preparations—before teasing that he’s about to meet up with a mystery celebrity friend whom he hasn’t seen in a long time.

The rankings were determined through an analysis of singers’ media coverage, consumer participation, interaction, and community awareness indexes, using big data collected from December 21, 2022 to January 21, 2023.
NewJeans topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 11,901,458, marking a 26.54 percent increase in their score since December.
Meanwhile, Lim Young Woong held onto his spot at second place with a brand reputation index of 9,062,863 for January.
BTS took third place in the rankings with a brand reputation index of 6,980,796 for the month.
BLACKPINK maintained their position at fourth place with a brand reputation index of 5,874,066, marking a 6.37 percent rise in their score since last month.
Finally, IU came in at a close fifth after seeing a 26.35 percent increase in her brand reputation index since December, bringing her total score for January to 5,867,068.
